Rebecca Bengal has written about such things as death, design, obsessive teenagers, abandoned motels, William Eggleston, Joseph Cornell, Royal Trux, beach bums, trains, dive bars, moonshiners, destroyed theme parks, Graceland’s daily visitor, and a Russian cat circus. Her fiction and nonfiction has appeared in New York, The Believer, The Washington Post Magazine, Southwest Review, Greensboro Review, The Village Voice, Print, and elsewhere; her awards include fellowships from the James A. Michener Center for Writers and Tin House magazine. A contributing editor at American Short Fiction and Topic, she is at work on a novel, June Gloom, and two collections of stories, Long Black Train and Second Place.

Bengal collaborated with the painter Virginia Yount and the band The Roller on the second installment of our IF Series, IF02.
